Chapters Transcript Testimonial – Dr. Charlie Cheng Dr. Charlie Cheng, vascular surgeon, describes his experience with PuraPly AM and PuraPly MZ. After having consistent results with para apply AM in getting granulation tissue to form in areas that are difficult, especially over tendon and ligament. This is kind of my go to application. Now, anytime I have a wound that requires debris, what surprised me is granulation formation in areas where other grafts. Um I did not see consistent results. One area is, you know, over tendons and ligaments, especially on top of the foot, the skin is very thin. So after debris, you're gonna see tendon underneath with application of pure apply AM and I think it also help with uh providing a antimicrobial barrier. But I have a patient with a media fasciotomy wound from Compartment Syndrome and the location of the wound would be where there would be stool contamination. This was in a critically ill patient in IC U and every time he would have bowel movement, it would be watery diarrhea. And so the wound would get soiled and it was very difficult to keep it clean and the wound was very big. It was at least probably 20 by 20 centimeters big. And so I thought that this would be a perfect place to apply pure apply AM to provide antimicrobial barrier. I have used MZ the powder, I find the powder very useful in large defects that are deep where you can just uh apply the powder into the wound and it can get into the deep crevices. And then I would apply purely AM on top of the MZP. Apply has really changed my practice after my experience with limb salvage, this is my go to application now where I can see consistent result depending on what the wound look like in clinic, then I decide if the patient would benefit another application. This is a graph where I find that I can see consistent results and patients benefit from less surgical debris. Published April 23, 2024 Created by
